Yard Update

Operation: "Yard becomes a yard and no longer a mud pit" commenced a few weeks ago. I was really excited. We started out by getting 36 yards of top soil..... I wish I had pictures of that it was gigantic. Then Wade rented a bobcat "skidster" And started making piles and Tom, Sharon, Jim and I raked and raked and raked.

After the piles were mostly leveled we then started phase 2 "sprinklers"... lets be honest it is still debatable if this step should have been phase 1 and then have top soil be phase 2. We rented the trencher and bought all the parts and started going to town. Notice in these pictures that Wade and Tom could be twinners with their matching shirts and shorts. Actually Tom was driving Wade's truck and one of our neighbors flagged him down and started talking to Tom.. it took him a a minute to figure out that it was not Wade.

After the trenching was done we began laying the sprinkler pipe and digging the area's for the sprinkler heads. Later that day it began to rain. Oh joy of joys.. over the next few days it dumped on us and washed out a lot of our hard work.

We finished the sprinkler system put together all the heads and filled in our trenches...in the rain. Thank you Jim, Sharon, Mike, Rach and Tom for helping us and playing in the mud with us. After all the rain stopped the ground was really hard so we rented a tiller and tilled the entire yard. Then we raked again, YAY! After everything was level again we got smart and paid some one to come and put in curbing this past Monday. It looked great and they did a wonderful job. Then it has rained continually since then. Here is how everything is looking so far! Tomorrow we are supposed to have hydroseed sprayed but the conditions don't seem like they will work since the ground is supposed to be dry on top. Also it has been so wet that we have not been able to seal the concrete so we hope it's okay out there =) Here is what our yard looks like now.

Home sweet home!

Now on to the garden and picking our trees. Does anyone have any favorites we should consider? I want a flaming maple and the orange maple and a crab apple tree and some other ornamental trees. Thoughts?

THANK YOU again to everyone who has helped us and nice neighbors who let us borrow stuff!
More updates to come soon

Weekend with the fam

This is Sadie my sweet little niece. She is 6 weeks old and a charmer.

We were so happy to join my parents, my sister Rachel and her husband and Dave's family for Sadie's blessing this weekend. It was a very special day with beautiful weather. I love spending time with family!

In house news we updated the laundry room. I used this as my inspiration... (And when I say that...I mean I copied it to the "T")

That is all I have for you now.. This weekend we are spreading top soil and possibly putting in some sprinklers! Oh the joy of home ownership.
