Taylor's Room

Here is Taylor's room. His Birth mom and I have a cute rocking chair and bookshelf to refinish and put in the room but basically it is decorated... for now =). Let me take you on a tour.

Finished

Here are the details

The Banner "Welcome Taylor" I can not in any way take credit for this. These super cute gals in my ward made this for my shower and I liked it so much that I put it up in his room. It is perfect and the colors totally go with his room.

The bed

I really fell in love with THIS bedding set from target so I ordered it and made the wall hangings that hang on the wall above the crib. To see how I made them go to THIS post. Wade got the crib from Wal Mart. I think it turned out really cute.

This was a gift from my sister Janee. It is a lavender baggie and goes perfectly with his room.

The other wall hangings are also explained on the post referenced above. The rocking chair came from Babies R Us and the blanket hanging on it was made by my mom.

This little bookcase is still a work in progress. I got the jars in the middle shelf as a gift a long time ago. I bought the green storage bin from IKEA and the picture on the top shelf was a cute gift from my ward shower. I still have to hang the picture you see on the bottom shelf.

So that is the tour. I think it is shaping up to be pretty cute. can't wait when it is totally finished.

Projects and Wade

Wade and I have been busy as can be the last month with projects and his accedent and baby. I meant to post earlier but I just ran out of time. Here are a few things we have been doing...

Patio
We bought new patio furniture to spruce up out outdoor living area but we needed a coffee table. We went yard saleing and found this gem for $5 so we took it home with hopes of painting it and making it match. I still have not done the final coat of paint but here is what it looks like now.
Before After

Before After

Remember our garden? Yes it has been neglected but it is still alive and producing! If anyone needs tomatoes come on over in about a week, We are bursting here.

I have stared and finished a few projects for the baby's room all having to do with this canvas I found for $3 at the local DI thrift store.

My first project was to make these wall hangings.

I got my inspiration from THIS bedding I bought for Taylor's room.
First I sprayed them into the colors I wanted (I used old spray paint I had from other projects)

Then I took paper and covered the canvas and drew the design I wanted

Then I took strips of interfacing and copied the drawing and fused it with the fabric I wanted to use. After that I just glued it on the canvas with craft glue and I was done! I am really proud of it especially because it hardly cost me anything. I used scraps from the project below, old spray paint and $3 canvases from DI.

The final project I did was just wrap the canvas in fabric and staple it to the wood frame. Total cost around $20.

AND THEN...... was Wade's accident....read more about the ride here
Here are a few pictures from that day and the days he was in the hospital. Long story short Wade went for a ride July 30th with his friends. He was involved in a head on dive into a rock and broke his neck and back. He felt fine initially but we went to the hospital anyway and found out things were worse than we thought. He had a plate put in to stabilize his vertebrae, stayed in the ICU 2 days and the trauma unit 1 day and was released miraculously in time to see his son be born in a different hospital on August 2nd. His recovery and the fact that he is not a quadriplegic is a miracle. We honestly know that prayer works. We are so thankful for everyone's prayers on our behalf and for the outpouring of support and love and meals and yard work and visits.... the list goes on and on. We love ya all! Thank you for helping us through this crazy and amazing time.
Just waiting in the ER before we knew anything was wrong
The break in his neck

Visits from family and an awesome poster from our niece and nephew

Walking around the ward for the first time in 2 days. Amazing.
